After the core stakeholders, the city stakeholders were contacted and engaged. Thus far, in Segment 1 (the Phase 1 area) of the I-210 corridor (which includes Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, and Duarte), initial and technical meetings have been held with all of the cities’ technical staffs. Each meeting included at least one representative from the city, Caltrans, Metro, LACDPW, PATH, and at least one city representative from an adjacent city. In addition, meetings with the city council of each city have either been held or are scheduled.
Large regional agencies were also contacted. Meetings were held with:
- the staff and Transportation Committee of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (formed in 1994 to work on regional issues and help forge consensus in addressing issues that affect its 31 member cities)
- the staff of the Southern California Association of Governments (the Metropolitan Planning Organization for Southern California, representing six counties, including Los Angeles County)
Meetings were also held with:
- First responders, including the California Highway Patrol (CHP), county coroner, county sheriff, and local police and fire departments
- Transit operators, including LA Metro’s bus and rail departments, Foothill Transit bus service to the San Gabriel and Pomona valleys, Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority, and local transit services such as Pasadena Transit
Later in the project, additional stakeholders will be asked to engage in the process. These include:
- South Coast Air Quality Management District, the regional air quality agency
- Chambers of commerce, local business, nonprofit, and community organizations
